New Rolls-Royce Phantom Series II starred at a spectacular event on the magnificent French Riviera, on the 6th of June 2022.
Phantom Rendezvous, the glittering press event, took place at the Maybourne Riviera Hotel in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. The hotel sits high above the spectacular Mediterranean coast with Monaco secreted below. The invitation-only event saw guests from around the world driving, and being driven in, the newest Phantom, officially unveiled in mid-May.
To add a touch of verisimilitude, 2 Bespoke Phantoms were displayed on the lawn of the Maybourne Riviera hotel. Phantom Platino, named after platinum’s silver-white finish, and echoes the marque’s early chauffeur- driven days with front seats upholstered in fine Rolls-Royce leather, and those in the rear upholstered in luxurious fabric. In bygone days, a tapestry rear cabin was enclosed, offering its pampered passengers the ultimate in luxury. Leather was thought to be more durable and as the front cabin was open to the sky, was used for the driver. That practice eventually died out once all occupants were cocooned within cabin.

Rolls-Royce is unique and is considered by most, to be the apex of the luxury world.
Rolls Royce doesn’t call the owners “buyers,” instead referring to them as clients, meaning many of them are return customers. Taking their wishes in to account, Phantom Series II has had a light hand applied to subtle changes. For example, the Pantheon Grille had some minor alterations to make the ‘RR’ Badge and Spirit of Ecstasy figurine more prominent when viewed from the front. The grille itself is now lit from within, and the headlights have intricate laser-cut bezel starlights, adding to Phantom’s night-time presence. Another starfield can be personalised on the interior celing.
The French Riviera has been associated with Rolls-Royce from the dawn of the 20th Century. The Côte d’Azur saw famous actors, artists, musicians, as well as wealthy luminaries of the era. The area was desirable enough to tempt Sir Henry Royce to build Villa La Mimosa in 1912, in the village of Le Canadel. He subsequently spent every winter until his death in 1933.
