Second generation VW Tiguan was launched in the USA in 2017 to become the top seller for the German brand, especially among LGBTI buyers.
2022 sees a refreshed body, new styling, and extra technology.

The front is new with fresh headlights and bumper designs. The new grille, LED headlights and daytime running lights (DRLs), are highlighted but a light line flanking the VW logo. There are new colours, and new wheels to finish out the refresh.

Inside, the Tiguan now has a standard Digital Cockpit with an 8-inch display, with a 10-inch Digital Cockpit Pro as an option. Volkswagen Car-Net® with in-car Wi-Fi can be used with your data plan. From the second model up, MIB3 infotainment is standard, as is wireless charging and apple carplay, and Android Auto.
All tiguans have Heated front seats, with optional heated steering wheel and colled front for those who like a little bit extra. Only the base model misses out on the next-generation Climatronic® Touch interface for climate control and power tailgate.
R-Line trims have leather-wrapped steering wheels which includes touch controls. Other features are Real or faker leather seating, power front seats, panoramic sunroof, Fender® Premium Audio, and 15-color ambient lighting.
The IQ.DRIVE® driver assistance suite is standard on all but the base model and includes:

- Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring)
- Active Side Assist (Blind Spot Monitor)
- Rear Traffic Alert, Lane Assist (Lane Keeping System)

There are 4 trim levels in all, each with with 4Motion® all-wheel drive as an optional choice. The engine is the 2.0L, four-cylinder EA888 TSI® engine, with 184 horsepower / 221 lb-ft of torque, with and eight-speed automatic transmission.
