5 Stars for Skoda Superb, Mercedes E-Class & Kia Carnival Hybrid

Skoda Superb, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Kia Carnival Hybrid Confirm Five-Star ANCAP Safety

As Aussies flock to SUVs and utes, it’s nice to know a few classy sedans and people movers are still keeping safety front and centre. The latest ANCAP results confirm the Skoda Superb, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and the Kia Carnival Hybrid all achieve the coveted five-star rating.

Skoda Superb

Fresh to Australian and New Zealand shores, the Skoda Superb sedan and wagon earned full marks in multiple crash tests, including frontal offset, side impact, and oblique pole. Its 93% Adult Occupant Protection score is one of the highest in recent memory, while its autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system proved effective across vehicles, cyclists, motorcyclists, and pedestrians. Families and fleets alike can breathe easier knowing the Superb doesn’t compromise on safety.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Launched in January 2024, the latest E200 and E300 sedans continue Mercedes-Benz’s safety legacy. The E-Class scored highly in side-impact and oblique pole tests, with full points for driver protection in the full-width frontal test. Its collision avoidance tech also performed well, although pedestrian pelvis protection lagged behind at just 0.74/4.50 points. Still, ANCAP says the E-Class lives up to expectations of premium safety.

Kia Carnival Hybrid

Already a segment leader, the Kia Carnival now adds hybrid models to its five-star tally. ANCAP ran fresh crash tests on the hybrid, confirming its battery tech poses no extra risks. With identical safety systems to its petrol and diesel siblings, the Carnival HEV now carries the same five-star seal across all variants. Perfect for families wanting safety with a greener edge.

These results prove that whether you’re into Euro luxury, Czech practicality, or Korean people-moving power, five-star safety remains the standard.
