All New Range Rover Sport Makes a Splash on a Spillway


 

New Range Rover Sport debuted by climbing up a flooded dam spillway in Iceland.

Range Rover Sport against a torrent of water flowing down the ramp of the Kárahnjúkar Dam, the biggest of its kind in the world, at a rate of 750 tonnes per minute. Range Rover claims it is the best yet, and has a long tradition of crazy stunts to herald the arrival of new models.

The successful spillway featured at the launch event at Jaguar Land Rover’s Advanced Product Creation Centre in Gaydon, UK. Official James Bond stunt driver Jessica Hawkins drove the luxury SUV. Previous events included a record-setting hill-climb at Pikes Peak, a first recorded crossing of the ‘Empty Quarter’ desert in the Arabian Peninsula and a first ascent of the 999 steps to Heaven’s Gate in China, in 2018.

New Range Rover Sport uses the group’s flexible Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA-Flex), enabling drivelines such as the two six-cylinder extended range Electric Hybrid plug-ins, with an EV range of up to 125km and CO2 emissions as low as 37g/km1.

The new 390kW (530PS) V8 Twin Turbo2 provides sports car performance, with 0-100km/h in as little as 4.5 seconds with Dynamic Launch engaged. Customers can also choose from powerful and efficient mild hybrid petrol2 and diesel Ingenium engines, while pure-electric propulsion will be available in 2024, as Land Rover continues its electrification journey.

The Pro infotainment systems has a 13.1-inch haptic touchscreen. The system controls everything from navigation to media and vehicle settings, it learns the user’s habits and intelligently personalises the onboard experience, becoming a truly intuitive personal assistant, integrating Amazon Alexa and all its infrstructure..

Peerless capability

New Range Rover Sport has all the latest off-road ability using the latest Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (iAWD) system.

Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control debuts on the brand new Range Rover Sport by taking car of speed adjusting the speed, allowing the driver to focus on steering the vehicle.

New Range Rover Sport will be exclusively produced at the Solihull Manufacturing Facility in the UK, the historic home of Range Rover production, alongside New Range Rover.
