BYD just pumped out its 15 millionth new energy vehicle. Let that sink in. The milestone car was a Denza N8L, a posh SUV from the sub-brand we’re going to be seeing a lot more of.

If you haven’t heard of Denza, get ready. We’re getting the Denza B5 and B8 in Australia early 2026. It’s BYD’s way of saying they can do luxury just as well as they do the affordable stuff.

The numbers are frankly ridiculous. They’ve sold over 4.1 million cars globally so far in 2025—up 11% on last year. But here’s the kicker: Australia is the star child. We were BYD’s number one export market for three months straight this winter.

BYD Australia is on track to shift over 50,000 cars this year alone. They aren’t just winning on volume; they’re outspending everyone on tech, dropping nearly $10 billion AUD on R&D in just nine months. While some brands are stalling, BYD is just getting started.

Patsy would probably say the N8L is “fabulous, darling,” but Bubbles would just be confused by the touchscreen. Either way, the Chinese giant isn’t slowing down.
