While many automated parking systems need the driver to be in the car, Genesis, luxury spinoff of Hyundai, says, “No. Bugger off out. We’ll do it better than you!” Of course, you can stay in the car if you want to, but why? Get out and impress your friends, especially those easily impressed.

The car will get in to tight spots, which is a huge plus, but a note in the handbook warns that you have to be in the car to exit. I can foresee a problem if that is the case, especially for gents of that certain age.

There are two versions of the G80, and a GV80 SUV version. We drive that next week so stay tuned.

Meanwhile, we’ve been in the big Genesis this week, and it has been a revelation. We’ve loved every minute. We’ve covered lots of road with beefy lads on board. Country roads and highways were a joy. One fellow passenger asked if it was an Audi? I said no. I said, It is a Bentley,” with a grin. He said, “Oh wow cool. It is as nice as I expected.”
