Genesis GV80 SUV Debuts Soon

The first Genesis SUV is set to debut in Australia in the form of the progressive and luxurious all-new GV80.

The flagship GV80 will provide the foundation for the future Genesis SUV line-up by delivering on the Genesis product values of class-above design and quality with state-of-the-art safety and technology.

GENESIS GV80 MODEL RANGE

The Genesis GV80 is offered in four variants, with three powertrains, rear- and all-wheel drive, five- and seven-seats, and an optional Luxury Package:

The 2.5T opens the GV80 range, featuring an all-new 2.5 litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine (224kW & 422Nm) with an 8-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. Standard luxury appointments include a mood-lit cabin with genuine leather and wood-finished trim, a 14.5-inch HD touchscreen multimedia interface, panoramic sunroof, 20-inch alloy wheels and a power-operated tailgate.

In addition, there are 10 airbags and the Genesis Active Safety Control suite of technologies, including a multi-function Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) system, Driver Attention Warning (DAW), Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance-Assist (BCA), Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop & Go and Machine Learning functions, and a Surround View Monitor (SVM) with 3D function.

The GV80 2.5T AWD pairs the petrol turbo with all-wheel drive, and inside the cabin brings a third-row to take seating capacity to seven.

GV80 3.0D AWD introduces the all-new refined straight six turbo diesel engine boasting 204kW and a generous 588Nm of torque.

The flagship model, Genesis GV80 3.5T AWD is headlined by the all-new powerhouse 3.5-litre turbo petrol V6 producing 279kW and 530Nm.

The seven-seater 3.0D AWD and 3.5T AWD deliver the enhanced ride and refinement of Road Preview Genesis Adaptive Control Suspension (GACS), and heightened dynamic capability courtesy of an electro-mechanical limited slip differential (e-LSD) and 22-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 265/40 Michelin tyres.

The Luxury Package offered on each of the four variants includes Nappa leather trim, a 12.3-inch full screen instrument cluster, three-zone climate control, soft close doors, an 18-way power adjustable driver’s seat with Ergo Motion massage function, and additional Genesis Active Safety Control systems.

DESIGN

As a product of the design-led Genesis Global Advanced Studio, the all-new GV80 delivers a confident and progressive take on the Athletic Elegance philosophy.

The broad, G-Matrix pattern crest grille flanked by quad headlights is inspired by the Genesis emblem and gives the GV80 a distinctive visage.

GV80’s well-balanced profile and RWD proportions are emphasised by a smoothly contoured roofline and a crisp ‘parabolic line’ graphic and underlined by eye-catching 20- and 22-inch alloy wheel designs that embody Athletic Elegance.

At the rear, quad lamps reflect the unique Genesis design identity and clean forms complete the visual package, creating a low, sporty stance.

Complementing the striking visual design will be a range of premium paint finishes, comprising eight gloss (mica/metallic) and three matte exterior colours.

INTERIOR

GV80’s luxurious premium leather-finished cabin is offered with five interior colour combinations matched with four open pore real wood trims.

The dashboard design creates a spacious, open feel through a horizontal motif and seamlessly integrated door trims.

Headlining are a 14.5-inch Genesis infotainment system touchscreen multimedia unit, classy central Genesis Integrated Controller dial, 12.0-inch Head-Up Display (HUD), and 12.3-inch Genesis 3D cluster (Luxury Package).

Additional convenience and luxury features in GV80 include wireless smartphone charging, power-operated door latches (Luxury Package), and a 1050 Watt, 21-speaker Lexicon premium sound system capable of crisp, concert hall stereophonics.

CHASSIS

The Genesis GV80 features an Australian-specific chassis tune designed to deliver an optimal balance of comfort, refinement and enjoyment.

The tuning incorporates suspension and steering settings developed over thousands of kilometres of local testing on a range of surfaces, including urban roads, highways, mountain passes and gravel country roads.

GV80 3.0D and 3.5T models further develop the SUV’s inherent refinement and dynamism with the adoption of Road Preview Genesis Adaptive Control Suspension (GACS), which uses the front camera to monitor the road surface ahead and initiate optimised pre-emptive adaptive damper control.

Additionally, in these variants an electro-mechanical limited slip differential (e-LSD) delivers improved driving performance on rough roads, as well as heightened handling capability.

A Terrain/Drive Mode system provides Eco, Comfort, Sport and Custom modes for road driving, as well as specific settings for Snow, Mud and Sand driving.

“Our chassis engineers matched these versatile drive modes to an electronically controlled suspension with road preview that employs the intelligent ADAS camera to detect obstacles like speed bumps and adjust the damping forces accordingly,” said Albert Biermann, President, Head of Research and Development Division at Hyundai Motor Group.

Genesis’s first SUV is based on an all new Rear Wheel Drive platform with longitudinal (north/south) engine configuration, with a focus on a lightweight chassis and weight reduction.

The body structure of GV80 is enhanced with hot-stamped, high-strength steel, as well as lightweight aluminium used for the doors, bonnet, and tailgate.

SAFETY

Like each member of the Genesis model line-up, GV80 provides an unmatched level of standard active and passive safety systems, as part of a brand-level engineering commitment to passenger security and comfort.

GV80’s highly rigid body structure cocoons occupants with the safety of 10 airbags, including a pioneering centre side airbag system, which prevents or reduces injuries caused by head clashes between front occupants in the event of a side collision.
