. The VTEC Turbo delivers 140 kW of power and 240 Nm of torque. Honda’s next-generation powertrain technology delivers the power customers want as well as the fuel efficiency they don’t expect from an SUV.

The all-new Honda CR-V boasts bold and sophisticated new styling, a more spacious, versatile and premium-quality interior, its first-ever available state-of-the-art VTEC Turbo engine mated to Honda’s proven CVT transmission, and a host of new features and technologies for customers that enhance connectivity, comfort and convenience.

Based on an all-new platform architecture, the all-new CR-V also targets the highest levels of quality and driving refinement in the medium SUV class, including benchmark steering precision, ride comfort, body control and cabin quietness.

For the first time, Australian buyers can choose between spacious five-seat or seven-seat variants. Like the current CR-V, the all-new version will be available in both front and all-wheel drive.

“For Australia, the Honda CR-V will be a significant player in the medium SUV segment,” said Honda Australia Director, Mr. Stephen Collins.

“As well as the VTEC Turbo engine line-up across the range, family buyers will also appreciate the versatility afforded by being able to choose between a five, or seven-seat models. Our customers have been asking for this level of versatility and now we’ll deliver it.”

Mr. Collins said there had already been huge interest in the all-new Honda CR-V. “Because of its success overseas, our customers already know it’s coming. It’s clear both our existing customers and potential buyers currently in-market for a medium SUV, are already putting the Honda CR-V on their shopping lists.”

Advancing the Honda CR-V’s exterior with a dynamic and exciting new design, the fifth-generation Honda CR-V builds strongly on the previous four generations. Like those vehicles, the shape of the new CR-V is utility oriented, providing the roominess, flexible storage and off-highway capabilities that are useful for so many people.

The new CR-V heads in a fresh new direction with strong visual cues, thanks to crisper and sharper front-end design elements, aggressive stylised headlights surrounded by wing-shaped LED DRLs, and wide, muscular mudguards. The long bonnet, longer wheelbase, short rear overhang and dual exhausts also give the new CR-V a more sophisticated and athletic presence.

Already the Honda CR-V is making strong impressions in the markets where it’s already gone on sale. The all-new CR-V has been a huge hit in North America, most recently receiving acclaim in the WardsAuto 10 Best Interiors awards.

“When you step into the new CR-V you’ll know you’re in a premium, quality cabin but that premiumness will also be evident in the driving experience,” he said. “We also know our customers rank Honda.HRV.TURBO.7.seat (4)style as an important consideration for purchase and the CR-V has plenty of style as well as sophistication and a strong dynamic visual element.”

“The fact that the all-new Honda CR-V will also be available in two-wheel, as well as, four-wheel drive makes it the ultimate family SUV.”

In Australia, the first-generation Honda CR-V was launched in October 1997 and since then has enjoyed a reputation among family buyers as one of the most popular and enduring Honda models.

When the first-generation Honda CR-V arrived in Australia it helped shaped the compact SUV landscape for customers looking for a roomy and convenient lifestyle vehicle with all the attributes associated with Honda vehicles — innovation, quality, durability and functionality.

Mr. Collins said the all-new Honda CR-V was one of three major launches for Honda in Australia in 2017.

“We’re about to go on sale with the Civic hatch to complement the Civic sedan, followed by the CR-V and later in the year, the hot performance Type R,” he said.

“The Type R has already created a sensation by setting a new record for a front wheel drive car on the Nurburgring and its recent appearance at the 2017 Formula 1® Rolex Grand Prix in Melbourne generated a lot of interest.”

Full model details, pricing and key specifications for the all-new Honda CR-V will be released closer to launch.
