Jacky Ickx Returns to Bathurst in Genesis X Gran Berlinetta

Mount Panorama is set to roar with excitement as motorsport legend Jacky Ickx returns to Bathurst for the first time since his unforgettable 1977 Bathurst 1000 triumph. Swapping the iconic Ford Falcon XC V8 he piloted to victory with Allan Moffat for something altogether more futuristic, Ickx will take the wheel of the Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Concept in its global racetrack debut at the Bathurst 12 Hour endurance race (31 January – 2 February 2025).

The X Gran Berlinetta Concept, a creation first unveiled in Gran Turismo before appearing in the metal, will finally be seen in action on the Mountain. With its striking design and cutting-edge performance, it’s a bold showcase of Genesis’ vision for luxury and speed. Joining the Berlinetta will be the GV60 Magma Concept, fresh off a class win at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Magma, with its ballistic four-seater production car performance, is set to enter production later this year, kicking off Genesis’ ambitious plan to create high-performance Magma variants across its lineup.

Jacky Ickx, often referred to as the “Gentleman Disruptor,” is the perfect ambassador for Genesis’ leap into high-performance motorsport. Known for his versatility and unmatched endurance, Ickx’s illustrious career includes eight Formula One wins, six Le Mans victories, and, of course, his famous Bathurst win.

“I have always admired Genesis for its elegance and authenticity,” Ickx said. “Bathurst is such a special place – the passion of the fans creates an electric atmosphere. I can’t wait to put the X Gran Berlinetta through its paces on one of the world’s greatest circuits.”

With Genesis gearing up for its endurance racing debut in WEC by 2026, the Mountain may just be the start of this luxury marque’s motorsport odyssey.
