Kia Cerato Gets Fresh Face and New Tech


Kia’s Cerato is about to launch in Australia and will be the first newly branded Kia.

The Rio has been Kia’s top model in Australia for 20 years, selling 153,411 units from 2000, to April 2021.

While Rio remains a strong seller, Cerato, launched in 2003, reached 153,918 to end of April, Overtaking Rio.

As well as the first with the new logo, refreshed Cerato gets a new-look front end with headlights, radiator grille, front bumper and fog lights all receiving attention.

The hatch will see little change at the rear but the sedan gets tweaked tail lights, boot and rear bumper lines.

Safety tech has see the introduction of Rear Seat Alert, LED Daytime Running Lights and Lane Following Assist across all models. Sport + and GT models get active Blind spot assistance and electric parking brake.

Other changes include for all Ceratos include rear air vents, the GT’s adding a sliding sunroof on.

The 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine has 112kW/192Nm will make an appearance in the S, Sport and Sport+ while GT trim has the 150kW/265Nm 1.6-litre turbo.

Dealers will get S, Sport and Sport+ from this week and the GT in mid-June.
