A little known fact: the extraordinary engineering feat of the Snowy Hydro Scheme succeeded due to a few factors; intelligence and ambition, the worker’s bravery and Land Rovers. With over 300 in service with the Snowy Mountains Authority, it was lauded as the ultimate alpine car.

Mark Cameron, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover Australia commented, “We are delighted to partner with Thredbo Resort and to re-invigorate our long relationship with the Australian Alpine region. Land Rover has always been the vehicle of choice for those Australians who harness the above and beyond spirit of adventure.”
Thredbo General Manager Stuart Diver says, “More than an alliance, this is a ‘welcome home’ as Land Rover played a huge part in opening up the Snowies. We both celebrate innovation, the off-road, the outdoor and going above and beyond. We are thrilled by this perfect marriage of values.”
While the original Land Rovers carried engineers, hydrologists, surveyors and medical personnel in the mountains, now ski and snowboard crew are on-board – and the experience is radically different.
A fleet of Land Rover‘s most capable vehicles have become part of the team at this year’s upcoming snow season in Thredbo. In preparation for the season opening, resort crew are taking advantage of features ideal for navigating the snow. With low range gearing* , active electronic differentials*, and hill descent control, Land Rover Discovery‘s and Discovery Sports are well and truly right at home in Thredbo. New Defender will be added to the Thredbo family later in the year.
