There is no doubt a market for spacious luxury people movers calls for Lexus to do their thing, but I believe we have now reached maximum grille. This Lexus LM van appears to be a grille with a windscreen, with a front like the cow-catcher on a steam train. LEXUS released their shiny new LM flagship MPV at the 2023 Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition.
The all-new LM has two hybrid-electric powertrain options, in 4, 6 or 7 seat configurations, and will sell in 60 countries.
Lexus Australia Chief Executive John Pappas, in confirming the LM will be brought to Australia, said the flagship MPV would offer customers a private oasis of creativity and relaxation with rear-seat comfort and opulence unlike any other luxury vehicle.
“The all-new LM creates a dignified, elegant and whisper-quiet cabin, with the ability for rear passengers to relax or conduct business in luxurious comfort,” Mr Pappas said.
“Combined with the choice of two hybrid powertrains and a full suite of active safety technologies, the all-new LM will be sure to delight customers who demand the ultimate comfort and convenience of a personal luxury suite.”
Alloy come in 17- and 19-inches but if the exterior doesn’t grab you, the cabin certainly will. It takes the luxury of the LS limousine and puts it in a van. The two-row, four-seat layout or a three-row arrangement with the choice of six or seven seats allows for a partition between the front and rear seats in the 4 seater.
A 48-inch widescreen display can be used for anything an executive can think of, including video conferencing and movies. Rear captain’s chairs have armrests and a retractable ottoman, and heating throughout.
The Rear Climate Concierge manipulates air conditioning, seat position, sunshades, lighting and other features to give the passengers their preferred environment. The rear cabin is monitored by a thermal matrix sensor to detect temperature across four occupant body areas (face/chest/thigh/lower leg). The system then changes airflow etc. The centre armrest has a retractable laptop-sized table that has a non-slip leather surface.

All models have a rear multi-operation controllers, with Two panels on the centre console armrest allows 2nd row travellers the option of individualising their preferences.
Second-row seats use two types of shock-absorbing material, while third-row seats have thickened backs and cushions.
64 colour ambient lighting is intended to enhance the already-luxurious feel..
Like all Lexus models, the ride is smooth and cabin extremely quiet. This is something vans are not usually known for. Although LEXUS will insist on calling this a MPV, it is a van none the less..
Ride uses Lexus’ Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) to give the limo-like experience for the first time in their van. The new ‘Rear Comfort’ drive mode gives priority to those in the rear, for comfort over handling..
Engine options are: 2.5-litre intelligent hybrid in the three-row models, and a 2.4-litre turbocharged hybrid, similar to the new RX 500h F Sport, in the 4 seater.
Lexus Safety Sense + brings the van up to the level of safety, active and passive, to rival the passenger car models.
More detail and pricing will follow, but Lexus has provided the LM preliminary specifications
