Maserati new GranTurismo continues a 75 year story that began with the Maserati A6 1500.
The GranTurismo coupé is a true GT car with either a big, internal combustion engine, a kick-arse 100% electric drivetrian. According to Maserati, “The Others Just Travel”. The new model is the first car in the brand’s history to adopt a 100% electric powertrain.
GranTurismo coupé takes cues from the 75 year history without being a vapid pastiche, greenwashing an old brand name
GranTurismo coupé has the classic proportions of an Italian GT with the long bonnet and the sensuous body intersected by the four muscular fenders. The roof line drops over the curve of the pillar that features the Trident logo.
GranTurismo was developed at the Maserati Innovation Lab, produced at the Mirafiori manufacturing hub in Turin, to make the GranTurismo 100% inside and out.
The new coupé has a new V6 Nettuno engine. It comes as the 490-hp 3.0-litre Modena, with the Twin Turbo, or the the high-performance 550 hp Trofeo.

The Electric Coupé
For the first time, Maserati bites the electric bullet to bring the GranTurismo in Folgoreform, with a 100% electric battery-based powertrain. The Folgore uses 800-volt technology with Formula E technology. Performance uses three 300-kW permanent magnet motors.
The 92.5 kWh battery has a discharge capacity of 560 kW, giving a decent 760 hp to the wheels. The 1353 mm tall coupé houses the powerful battery pack in a ‘T-bone”, thus avoiding battery modules under the seats.
There is extensive use of lightweight materials such as aluminium and magnesium, and high-performance steel. The multi-material approach needed new manufacturing processes to be created, resulting in best-in-class weight levels.
The new Atlantis High electrical/electronic architecture, based on canFD messages sent at speeds of up to 2 ms. The system has advanced level 5 cyber-security and flash-over-the-air features. The Vehicle Domain Control Module (VDCM) master controller monitors keeps an eye on major functions, modifying as needed..
Maserati GranTurismo’s tasteful cabin has new interface systems such as:
- Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) Multimedia system
- latest infotainment
- comfort display (an integrated touchscreen interface)
- digital clock
- Heads-up Display (optional).
GranTurismo gets an “all-round sound experience”, with the Maserati enginesound even in the electric version thanks to innovative work by engineers at the Maserati Innovation Lab. The sound experience is completed by the immersive Sonus faber 3D sound system. Designed and made by Italian craftsmen in sound, the audio system offers two levels of customisation, giving it up to 19 speakers and 3D sound with an output of up to 1,195 W, for depth of field and truly unique roundness of sound.*
At launch, the GranTurismo is also available in the PrimaSerie 75th Anniversary Launch Edition, a limited series featuring exclusive content and dedicated to its recent 75th anniversary.
