Penny Ferguson: New Managing Director at Jaguar Land Rover Australia

Penny Ferguson has taken the reins at Jaguar Land Rover in Australia.

Ms Ferguson has been charged with realising the company’s world-wide Reimagine Strategy that began in 2021. The plan is to make all parts of the Jaguar Land Rover sustainable, while making a positive impact on society. The aim is zero tailpipe emissions by 2036 and net zero carbon emissions by 2039.

Ms Ferguson started her career as a chartered accountant with a bachelor of Commerce from Sydney University. Jaguar Land Rover’s search for a new boss comes after promotion of Mark Cameron as global Commercial Director for Vehicle Programmes and Transformation. Mark’s 3-year Australian stint is credited with the “profit-led” transformation of the Australian arm of the British carmaker’s operations.

Ms Ferguson previously headed the Australian operations of luxury brands Tiffany & Co. and Paspaley, a company known for pearls.

Martin Limpert, Regional Director Overseas, Jaguar Land Rover, commented: “Penny brings a depth of business experience gained within the luxury jewellery industry. As Market Director and member of Tiffany & Co.’s leadership team for Australia and New Zealand, Penny successfully drove the establishment and expansion of their operations in the region. With her broad expertise in multi-channel luxury retail operations and finance, customer-centric mindset, and modern leadership style, Penny is well-placed to drive our business transformation in line with the Jaguar Land Rover Reimagine strategy.”

As Jaguar Land Rover launches new models, the company is following the world-wide trend towards electrification. The new Range Rover comes with the usual power of internal combustion, but has a range of mild hybrid, and plug-in-hybrid models as well.

With the discontinuation of the long-running XJ, the Range Rover SUV takes the place of the apex predator in the JRL range.

The next few years give Penny Ferguson plenty of scope, and we wish her good luck and safe journeys.
