Polestar 3 Park Assist Pilot Parallel Parks It for You

Polestar 3 Park Assist Pilot parks the car in a parallel space for you, steering and working both pedals while you watch.

Every step is listed in Polestar’s owner’s manual for the 2025 model yeaar, and remains unchanged. It handles parallel parking only, but, dear owners, read the full section, limitations included, before the first go. See our 2027 Polestar 3 updates story for more on the model.

How Polestar 3 Park Assist Pilot finds a space

It’s switched on from the parking view, which often appears by itself when reversing. If it doesn’t, open the Camera app from the contextual bar or the app library, and check the traffic and conditions suit it.

Press the park assist pilot button and the car begins scanning. Drive slowly in D to keep it scanning, and use the indicator to pick a side. It identifies a space from the parked cars around it, so a gap with nothing parked in front may go undetected. You also have to drive past a spot before it shows as available on the centre display.

Some events and conditions stop it activating, an open door being one. Once that’s cleared, the button works again.

Let go of the wheel and keep watching

Stop, then select the suggested space on the centre display. The car won’t start any automatic manoeuvre until a space is selected. Lightly tap the brake pedal once to begin, let go of the steering wheel, and follow the instructions on screen. The car steers and works both pedals, but the driver still has to monitor it and be ready to take back control.

The manual warns that Polestar 3 Park Assist Pilot may seem hesitant, or go backwards and forwards a lot. That’s part of the process, though it can also point to trouble with detection or positioning, or with planning the move. Other times it’s fast and straightforward.

If the space becomes unavailable or the car can’t finish, you get a notification. No notification means it can carry on if it’s safe. When it’s finished, the car confirms it and puts itself in Park. A separate page of the manual covers leaving a parallel space with park assist pilot.

FInally, you are in control so never ever take your eyes off the situation. If in doubt, brake.
