Polestar 4 Coupe Price Drops $4,600 To Match the SUV

Polestar 4 coupe pricing fell $4,600 on 2 September, under a More choice, same price plan.

Polestar 4 coupe pricing starts at $73,900 plus on-roads for Rear motor, then $81,750 for Dual motor, and $95,450 for a Dual motor with the Plus and Performance packs. Those prices apply to every customer from 2 September, and they match Polestar 4 SUV pricing.

Polestar had a busy 48 hours. Gothenburg confirmed the Formula 2030 concept car on 7 September, Sydney confirmed new coupe pricing on 8 September, and both hang off the same 2030 commercial strategy. One takes $4,600 off a car on sale now. The other is a design study that shareholders see before the public does.

What Polestar 4 coupe buyers paid in June

We published MY27 Polestar 4 coupe pricing on 25 June at $78,500 for Rear motor and $86,350 for Dual motor. That story ran under a headline about an unchanged price, because in June the price hadn’t changed. Both figures dropped by $4,600 on 2 September. The word cut doesn’t appear anywhere in the new announcement, which prefers aligned.

Polestar 4 SUV lists at $73,900 and $81,750 for the same pair of drivetrains. We went through those numbers on 2 September, when the SUV brought back the glass rear window the coupe does without. The coupe dropped to the SUV price, not the other way round. That absent rear window is also why the $1,000 digital rear-view mirror is an SUV-only option, because the coupe already needs one to see behind itself.

Polestar 4 coupe pricing drops into a market that moved a long way in a year. Battery-electric cars took 24.9% of Australian sales in August, 27,089 of them, up 171% on August 2025.

Trim names and the option list

Polestar 4 coupe changes for MY27. Rear motor and Dual motor now take the drivetrain names, with Dual motor with Performance pack above them. Telling them apart from the driver’s seat comes down to seatbelt and rotary control detailing, black on Rear motor. Dual motor adds a Swedish gold stripe to it, and the Performance pack car goes full Swedish gold.

The recalibrated chassis and the lower carbon figures both appeared in that June story, so neither is news today. High-capacity passive dampers, revised spring and anti-roll bar settings, and polyurethane rebound stops in place of the internal rebound coil springs, with sharper steering precision claimed alongside. Dual motor still runs 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds. Carbon footprint to Australian customers is 20.3 tCO2e on Dual motor and 19.4 tCO2e on Rear motor. Cradle-to-gate on Dual motor came down 1.1 tCO2e since launch. Michael Lohscheller, CEO of Polestar, says the updated car has “a more refined ride with enhanced driving pleasure, and stronger sustainability credentials”.

Formula 2030 and the invitation list

Formula 2030 is a design study, confirmed in Gothenburg on 7 September. It hangs off the same 2030 commercial strategy behind the pricing, the one aimed at continued growth and a route to profitability. It’s described as a bold evolution rather than a revolution of an established Scandinavian form language, with exterior design, interior design, material innovation, and sustainability all pushed on to the next chapter.

The design attributes preview the next Polestar 2, due in 2027, and Polestar 7 after it. Philipp Römers, Head of Design at Polestar, led the team. The Dual Blade headlights feature in a single shadowed teaser image, but the car stays behind closed doors until the public debut.

“Polestar’s design and brand is already so strong, it was obvious we needed a bold evolution not revolution of what came before,” said Römers.

Investors and retailers see it first, along with a hand-picked group of customers. The viewing happens behind the scenes at a Formula 2030 event at The Cube, Polestar HQ in Gothenburg. The global public debut follows later this year, during the media drive for Polestar 4 SUV.
