The Land Rover Defender Family Gets 8-Seater

Land Rover is super-sizing the Defender by adding a 3-seat 3rd row. The new family member will be called the Defender 130. With the 5 seat 110 and SWB 90 already established, the 8 seater adds a bit of extra space.

It remains to be seen whether or not there will be extra wheelbase space, and interiors rejigged to match. Land Rover says the Defender 130 will have the latest technology, and it the other variants are anything to go by, it should be a great drive.

Current models have a selection of drive trains, and you can read our Defender 90 Review here, the Defender 110 Review here.

We’d love to see an electric version, but the 221kw/650Nm 110 SE was a pleasure to experience. There is a 294kw/550Nm model, and a P400e PHEV version (which isn’t currently appearing on the website) with 297Kw just for good measure. For brute force, check the V8 box.

It is a little hard to compare on the website, so best to download a full specifications brochure with everything side-by-side.

Luggage space will be limited as it is with all 7 and 8 seater SUVs, so Defender 130 will be taking the kids to parties, and ferrying drunk mates from pub to pub.

We look forward to seeing what Land Rover has come up with.
