Toyota Gazoo Racing Rising Stars at Bathurst 1000 & GR Supra Tease

Hold onto your hats, revheads—Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia (TGRA) is about to make its biggest splash yet at the 2024 Bathurst 1000. This year’s event promises more than just hair-raising action on the track; it’s offering fans a sneak peek at the future of Supercars racing with a full-size clay model of the new GEN3 GR Supra racecar. Set to roar into the Supercars Championship in 2026, the Supra has been developed with Walkinshaw Andretti United and designed by Toyota Australia using cutting-edge CAD and VR tech. Who said clay models were just for art class?

While the car nerds drool over the Supra, trackside action will sizzle as the TGRA GR Cup hits the tarmac, with the season’s penultimate round unfolding at the iconic Mount Panorama circuit. And let’s not forget TGRA’s newest golden boy, Royce Lyne, who earned his place at Bathurst with a fully funded drive after dominating the TGRA Scholarship Series evaluation day. The 17-year-old will be rubbing elbows (and tyres) with some of Australia’s top up-and-coming racers, hoping to make his mark in front of thousands of eager spectators.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. Bathurst attendees can pop over to the TGR Activation Zone for some hands-on fun, including racing simulators that let fans feel like they’re behind the wheel of a GR86 on the same circuit the pros are battling it out on. Plus, each day’s fastest simulator lap wins a $100 gift card and a TGR-branded cap. Not too shabby, right?

The 2024 TGRA GR Cup is shaping up to be a nail-biter, with Matthew Hillyer holding a slight lead over Bradi Owen as the championship heats up. Both will be battling it out alongside Lyne, hoping to outshine the young star in one of the most anticipated rounds of the season.

So, whether you’re a die-hard racing fan, a tech geek drooling over Toyota’s futuristic designs, or just someone who loves the thrill of motorsport, the Bathurst 1000 this year promises to be one for the history books. And as for young Royce Lyne—watch this space. We might just have our next Aussie motorsport sensation on our hands!
