NavMan sent me a Sensor XL DC to review long term. Opening a new gadget it always an event, and I particularly looked forward to this one.

Why I like NavMan?
There are several reasons that a NavMan dashcam is preferred over others I’ve experienced. When you drive from a tunnel in to full daylight, the cam quickly adjusts so that the video keeps proper balance. There is still a small period of adjustment of course, but you’d still be able to identify accident details during that period. And that is the important bit.
Next, the lenses are glass. Other brands are plastic
Images are crisp and clear. When someone runs into you, you want to be able to identify them by face, and number plate, right?

What’s in the box?
At first it looks like you have way too much gear for your own good, but all is well.
There are cables to connect to the power outlet. Further cables can be hardwired, and connect the front camera to the rear. I’ve often wondered if the cables are long enough, but you’d not face this unless you want to have it permanently installed.
There is one front facing, and one rear facing camera included in the DC box.
You get a suction cup holder, as well as a holder with a more permanent double-sided tape option. You would use this if the unit is professionally wired in.
An SD is included. Navman recommends a decent speed SD, but not the fastest (not slower than Class 10, or faster than U1. U2 and U3 won’t work).
Is there a single-cam option?
Yes.
Navman MiVUE 1000 XL $299
Navman MiVUE 1100 XL DC $449
Why are dual Cam dashcams are better?
If someone runs up your date, you are going to want a proper record. Our video shows a rear-end accident that demolished viewer’s a near new Commodore. The car was a write-off and dashcam footage made the claim rock solid.
Rear cameras adhere with double-sided tape, so are not portable.
Why Are Dashcams so popular?
Peace of mind from a video/audio record means driving is monitored. Accidents are recorded, but manual files can be captured of anything the driver might want to view later.
