DAB is standard, as well as a feast of connected services via We Connect (unlimited activation) and We Connect Plus (activated for one year). The accompanying app gives details on the Polo from outside the car, such as: locking status, driving data, or the current parking position.

Let’s say you’ve been a pork-head and left the car unlocked, you can lock it through the app, assuming everyone has cell access. The system also integrates smartphone apps such as Siri and Google, the calendar, music, and news.

Stepping up to the next level, the Style gets Digital Cockpit Pro with its 26.04-cm display. This is also an option on the  Life and R-Line trim levels.

The 2 different navigation systems offer different levels of digital goodies. There is traffic sign display using a camera to detect the sign, which is then displayed on the cockpit screen. New digital twin zone climate control is an option. The Climatronic system is operated with touch sliders.

We’ve seen some of the features previously, but now have been given a bit of polish. This follows hot on the heels of Golf 8, with its cool cockpit full of techy goodness.

VW sold 5.3 million units in 2020 so the juggernaut shows no signs of slowing. It’s worth noting Volkswagen’s push towards electrification with the ID.3 and ID.4.

The company’s ACCELERATE strategy, is aimed at development into a software-oriented mobility provider.

Australian VW Polo details will be revealed as they come to hand.
