Ignoring all the PR-speak for a moment, the redesign on the outside at least, is restricted to micro-lense LED headlamps, subtle changes to the rear diffuser, new wheels and change to the grille. Exhausts are hidden in outlets designed like the crest grille, just to add that touch of verisimilitude.

There are 10 colour options, including the new Brooklyn Brown.

ABOVE: 2024 Genesis G80 – facelifted model

Inside, the driver is getting a brand spanking new 27” screen that has both driver instruments and the infotainment controls. In a new innovation sweeping slowly across the industry, the screen is a single high-definition OLED unit replacing twin 12.3” LCD screens.

Below the infotainment section of the main screen, a line of concealed vents distribute air, and under those, are the climate controls on a new touch panel. The idea of a “centre stack” has gone by the wayside as the centre console is so tall the it almost meets the climate controls.

The console houses a redesigned gear selector, giving the interior that elegant look found in cars costing twice as much. The cabin design ethos uses “the beauty of white space” to create a light and airy environment that still manages a cosy feel.

G80 Sport adds a D-shaped steering wheel and some carbon finishes. All G80s have 4 interior colour options, and the lighter the option, the more luxurious it looks.

Genesis G80 is a nice place to rest, and any changes can only add to the contemplative atmosphere. The updated G80 should be available this month.

GV80 will also get the gentle laying-on of hands, as well as a conga-line of tasty treats coming out of Hyundai and Kia for 2024.
