BMW Partners with AirConsole for In-Car Gaming

BMW has introduced an exciting new feature for its vehicles: an in-car version of UNO, the world’s most popular card game. Named UNO Car Party!, this innovative adaptation allows drivers and passengers to enjoy the game from the comfort of their parked car. Announced at gamescom 2024 in Cologne, Germany, this feature is now available globally, including in Australia, via the AirConsole platform. This marks a significant expansion of BMW’s in-car entertainment options, reflecting the company’s commitment to enhancing the digital experience for its customers.

tephan Durach, Senior Vice President of BMW Group Development Connected Company and Technical Operations, emphasized the importance of this innovation, stating, “Our partners AirConsole and Mattel are helping make in-car gaming into a new social experience, and I am thrilled to offer a family-favourite game like UNO for this exciting innovation.” The collaboration between BMW, Mattel, and AirConsole has transformed UNO into a connected game that can be enjoyed in a brand-new environment: the car. This feature enables drivers and passengers to use their personal devices as game controllers, connecting up to four players at a time, provided the vehicle is stationary.

Since the partnership between BMW and AirConsole began in 2022, the selection of in-car games has expanded significantly. In addition to UNO, popular games like “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” have been introduced, offering a range of entertainment options for passengers. These games leverage the BMW Operating System 8.5 and an embedded personal eSIM to deliver a seamless gaming experience. However, this feature is not available in certain models, such as the BMW 2 Series Coupé, 3 Series, and 4 Series.

In Australia, this initiative represents a novel approach to in-car entertainment, blending cutting-edge technology with classic, universally loved games. With the addition of UNO Car Party!, BMW continues to innovate, turning driving into a more social and enjoyable experience.
