Meanwhile, Genesis brought a wagon to market, the G70 Shooting Brake. Shooting brake is a term used by the Brits when the posh shooting-set specified a special wagon-style body to be made for the chassis of a car. It comes from a time when the buyer had the coachwork done by a specialist carriage works, but is now a wider term when a car maker wants to sound posh.

The Genesis is based on the G70 Sedan we reviewed last year.

All of the safety and driver aids found in the sedan have been included, as well as the 2.0 Turbo 4-cylinder petrol, powering the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic.

The interior brings the same classy touches we loved in the sedan. There is a 10.25” touch screen and a fancy digital driver’s cluster. Thankfully the automatic selector is a T-Bar style that is nice and easy to use.

LED headlights uses the now-familiar zone dimming when in high beam. See our Jaguar review above for a demonstration of that kind of system in use.

A Shooting brake will sell in small numbers, sadly, as most people will probably buy an SUV instead. As good as an SUV may be, they weigh more, use more fuel, but most importantly cost more.

Stay tuned for our review of the Genesis Shooting Brake in the near future.
