Over the last few years, Nissan, like many other car makers, has dropped most of their passenger car models in favour SUVs. Nissan now has the 370Z and GT carrying the can, while boosting the SUV range with all-new models in 2022.

“Next year will be a huge 12 months for Nissan, as we undertake an almost brand-wide refresh with the launch of four incredibly exciting and all-new models,” says Nissan Australia Managing Director, Adam Paterson.

“From the return of our iconic Z to the rugged yet refined Pathfinder, the stylish Qashqai to the adventure-ready X-TRAIL, I can confidently say there is an all-new vehicle for everyone in 2022.

“It’s not just new vehicles, but new innovations, too.  We are excited to introduce Nissan e-POWER, providing a 100% electric motor-driven powertrain as well as our flagship ProPILOT Advanced Driver Assistance System all due to arrive next year.

“That’s on top of the recently launched Navara, JUKE and LEAF e+, and the soon-to-arrive Nissan GT-R NISMO. All of which gives Nissan one of the newest and most exciting vehicle line-ups in the world.”

3 New SUV models in 2022

The all-new Nissan Qashqai will bring a completely new look, and new technology.

The all-new Nissan Qashqai launch early in the new year with four grades, a new engine, and with multi-link rear suspension across the range.

Nissan Pathfinder is all-new as well. The popular model comes with a striking front face, wide stance, and a shorter front overhang.

It will come along later in 2022, with an all-new nine-speed transmission, all-new Intelligent 4WD with seven-position Drive and Terrain Mode Selector, as well as an impressive towing capability.

The all-new Nissan X-TRAIL also has a completely new exterior, a fresh take on the interior and a full suite of safety systems.

All New Nissan Z

The 7th-generation Nissan Z comes late in 2022.

It keeps the look of a Z on the outside, with a driver-focused cabin, a manual or paddle-shift automatic transmission, rear-wheel drive, and a punchy twin-turbo V6 engine.

The new Z doesn’t just further the story, it rewrites it,” Mr Paterson says. “From power to handling, technology to cabin comfort, this a vehicle designed to delight, and we can’t wait for its Australian fans to get behind the wheel.”

Nissan ALL NEW for 2022: e-POWER

Nissan’s innovative e-POWER is different to many other hybrid models. In other brands, the wheels are powered by an electric motor and a petrol engine.

In Nissan’s e-POWER models, the drive wheels powered an electric motor only. The petrol engine is charges the battery the way range extenders do. The difference being the Nissan won’t need to ever plug in.

Nissan ALL NEW for 2022: ProPILOT

Nissan’s ProPILOT is the name given to the new Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) that combines Intelligent Cruise Control with Steering and Lane Keep Assist Technologies.

ProPILOT applies braking to your Nissan when it gets too close to the vehicle ahead, and will even bring your vehicle to a complete stop with its ‘Stop and Hold’ capability, before autonomously bringing the vehicle back up to speed. It will do all of this while ensuring your vehicle remains safety within its lane markings.
