Polestar will push P2.9 via over-the-air (OTA) to all existing Polestar 2 cars. The 15th update brings a couple of tasty new additions to the Google Android OS operating system.
These remote software upgrades started for Polestar 2 in 2020. Among the other apps users will be able to use on the main screen will be YouTube. The much-requested app will come standard on newly produced cars.
Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO, comments: “We know how much our customers look forward to over-the-air upgrades and I am convinced this one will be well received, with notable new features and enhancements. YouTube is great for entertainment while charging, and our updated Range Assistant app delivers more accurate predictions and supports an improved driving style. Bringing Apple Maps to the driver display is one of many important updates to Apple CarPlay in Polestar 2.”

In addition to the YouTube app, users will see an enhanced Polestar Range Assistant app. IN order to get a deep understanding of your own habits, the driver can view energy consumption over the previous 20, 40 or 100 km. The real-time information gives owners improved efficiency with the ability to see where a gentler style will get better range. The revised algorithm givese projected range considering, among other things, environmental factors.
This real-world range figure shows in the driver display, instead of the default range projection that relates to standard certified data.
Apple users will find that revised Apple CarPlay has additional phone and media information on the home screen tile, as well as being able to handle of calls using steering wheel buttons. Perhaps the biggest win will be the ability to see the calls and Apple Maps into the car’s driver display.
