Polestar has launched the Polestar 4 which is a sports SUV 2-in-1 cross between a limo, and a coupe, and it is very, very sexy.
Like Polestar 3, Polestar 4 comes in two models, either a rear wheel drive ($78,500) or dual motor All Wheel Drive (88,350). For $7200 you can add the Performance pack to the AWD Polestar 4, but it adds no more power just pretty brakes, nicer wheels, and touches of gold.
Confusingly, the Polestar 4 is a coupé SUV that sits between Polestar 2 and Polestar 3, but you’d be forgiven for thinking the gorgeous Swedish EV was a range-topper.
As a tasty tidbit, Polestar chiefs revealed the imminent arrival of Polestar 5 next year. The 1 car model company has gone to 2, then 3, and soon 4, quicker than you can say “Yes please”

Both models have a 100kwh battery, and 200kw DC charging. The RWD has 200kw/343Nm with a 7.1 second 0-100 while the AWD beefs up the brawn to 400kw/686Nm. Its 0-100 is 3.8 seconds, so it is not only a head turner, it’s also a neck-snapper and it’s range is up to 620km with the judicious use of common sense.
There are shades of Polestar 5 about the exterior with a wheelbase of 2999mm and a GT shape, but Polestar insists the Polestar 4 is all SUV.
The bodacious bo-day
The concealed show-as-you-approach door handles a cute, but it is the windowless back end that comes in for most pearl-clutching. Two high-definition cameras sit on a crossmember that has been moved rearward for better head height inside. The designers the cameras won’t get dirty or dusty, but we’ll judge that for ourselves thanks very much. It displays an image on what would normally be the rear-view mirror. Other brands to this because the rear view is either difficult or really lousy, but Polestar does it so the rear window the be omitted on purpose. That’s the Swedes for you.
The roof is glass, a curse under an Australian summer sun. Fear not, it can be shaded with an optional pop-in fabric accessory, or an snazzy Electrochromic glass roof (Requires Plus pack) factory-fitted for $2,700.

Inside, Polestar 4 is a cathedral of mid-century minimalist bliss.
Polestar 4 has the lowest carbon footprint of and Polestar and is tracked by blockchain technology.
There are recycled plastics weaved with love by ABBA fans while the rear passengers enjoy a first class experience cocooned in limousine luxury. The one luxury you can’t fake is space, and Polestar 4 has bags of it. There is a secondary control panel for media and climate, and the rear seats electrically recline for the full boom-shakala.
The front occupants are wrapped in more woven fabric, and the vegan leather (aka vinyl) is made of plant oil rather than fossil fuels. As a mark of respect for the environment, there are many clues left written over the backs of seats and in other key spots. It reminds all who see it that Polestar 4 is caring for the planet.
The 15.4” landscape screen has icons unique to Polestar, the driver’s screen sits atop the steering column, and a colour HUD provides the main source of data for a demanding driver.
The infotainment touch screen is divided into quadrants where shortcuts can be shown alongside the map. Importantly says Polestar, 2 apps can run at once on the Google operating system. Like tesla, Polestar has put many seldom-used functions in menus which are then saved as driver profile settings. This might be one of the hardest things to get used to.
