Polestar and Candela Collaboration: The C8 Polestar Edition

Swedish car maker Polestar, and boat maker Candela, have taken the covers of the electric Candela C-8 Polestar edition. The sleek electric cruiser starts at €400 000 ex. VAT cleverly mixes Polestar’s unique Scandinavian luxury EV design with Candela’s stunning looking electric hydrofoil boat.

The Candela C-8 Polestar edition’s design includes a Polestar-esque solid light grey colour, and seat upholstery that will be familiar to anyone who has ever been in a Polestar. In a further nod to the road-going namesake, the hydrofoils are painted in Swedish gold, the colour Polestar uses on seatbelts and other highlights in Polestar 2.

“Candela’s hydrofoil technology is a paradigm shift for sustainable performance in the marine industry. Like the first time driving an electric car, you instantly feel that this is the future when the boat ‘takes off’ – and now with the special gold details that we so proudly exhibit on our cars,” says Maximilian Missoni, Head of Design at Polestar.

The partnership may seem unlikely, however the two Swedish premium mobility brands had agreed that Polestar would supply batteries and charging technology for Candela’s electric hydrofoil boats. Those who said it couldn’t be done we proved wrong.

The Candela C-8 Polestar edition has a new solid grey exterior colour set against a lighter grey tone for interiors. The light grey is seen on the marine-certified textile used on seats, cushions and sunbeds to wall and roof panels.

The automotive industry design extends to seats and their upholstery, making them extremely comfortable, durable, and handsome. The maker claims they “enhance the experience of a smooth and silent ride in an electric hydrofoil boat.” The innovative technology and performance is further highlighted once the boat rises gracefully onto the hydrofoils.  Their Swedish gold colour, as seen in Polestar’s cars, is then on show.

“Aesthetic excellence is an intrinsic value, but it can also serve as a powerful driving force towards a sustainable future. At Candela, our primary focus is to create vessels that are more compelling in every respect. I am therefore very happy about the C-8 Polestar edition and our collaboration with the brilliant team at Polestar,” says Gustav Hasselskog, CEO & founder Candela.
