Suzuki Jimny is one of those rare gems that is both accessible, and desirable, almost despite itself.

Jimny heritage goes back 4 generations, all of which have had various body styles.  The all-new Jimny 5 Door is likely to strike the same chord that recently saw the suspension of 3-door automatic orders. The conga-line of buyers had stretched to a point at which management paused sales.

Suzuki Jimny’s 4×4 off road system is a hit, but like many of its ilk, can only be used on slippery surfaces, otherwise the little hatch is a rear-wheel-drive.  The upsized Jimny has a longer wheelbase and another 2 doors.

Suzuki says mechanical specifications are the same as Jimny 3-door versions, but that some internal changes we made, apart from the obvious extra doors.

Suzuki Australia General Manager – Automobile, Mr. Michael Pachota, said the introduction of the Jimny 5 Door will be another reason Australians will fall in love with Suzuki, all over again.

“With the launch of the all new Jimny 5 Door, we’ve given Jimny enthusiasts exactly what they’ve wanted for so long – an Extra Large Jimny!  Jimny has built an absolute cult following in Australia and will only continue to grow with a new breed of followers that need the extra space. The launch of this new variant will only add to this model’s iconic status and will continue to be one of the most loved 4×4’s in the country.”

There have been favourable reviews overseas, so Australian readers will have to wait a while to see exactly what our local version will include, and how much it will cost.
