Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) TIGGO 7 TIGGO 8 Lands in Oz

Just when we thought Chery couldn’t stir the pot any harder, they’ve gone and lobbed a big, bold slice of hybrid cake into the Aussie SUV game. From July, the Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) system will debut in the refreshed TIGGO 7 and TIGGO 8 models – and let’s just say, she’s serving range, efficiency, and drama. Yes, darling, drama.

We already got a taste of what Chery’s up to with the stylish TIGGO 7 Pro and plush TIGGO 8 Pro – both cheeky charmers that flirted with affordability while delivering the goods. Now, Chery’s gone full hybrid diva, fusing a fifth-gen 1.5L TGDI engine with a brainy DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission) and a juicy 18.3kWh lithium iron phosphate blade battery. Translation? A 44.5% thermal efficiency engine and 98.5% transmission efficiency—numbers that’d make even the Germans blush.

With over 90km of electric-only range and a claimed 1,200km total range, it’s clear Chery’s not just playing catch-up – they’re leapfrogging into the fast lane with a disco beat. Fast charging from 30% to 80% in 19 minutes means you’ll be ready before your oat latte even cools.

And while other brands are still dithering over hybrid tech, Chery’s been flexing this muscle since 1999. They’re not new to the dancefloor – they built it. With a global R&D network and a portfolio stacked with energy-saving smarts, the Chinese marque is turning up the heat on old-school rivals.

Lucas Harris, Chery Australia’s Chief Operating Officer, says it best: “Australian drivers can now experience the next generation of hybrid performance—where innovation meets real-world practicality.”

So yes, darlings, the hybrids are coming—and they’re here to slay. Stay tuned for our hands-on review of these tech-forward TIGGOs at gaycarboys.com, where we spill the (electric) tea.
