In a stunning achievement, the Deepal S07 battery electric SUV has equaled the Toyota Camry for the highest Adult Occupant Protection score against 2023-2025 ANCAP criteria, setting the benchmark for safety in its class. The S07 scored an impressive 95%, a feat accomplished by only 37 models assessed under these rigorous standards.
This electric SUV aced the side impact (T-bone) and oblique pole crash tests, with the driver escaping unscathed, while the front passenger achieved top marks in the frontal offset crash test. Impressively, the S07 demonstrated low risk to occupants of other vehicles in collisions, with only a fractional deduction of 0.86 points for compatibility.

The S07 also scored maximum points for child occupant protection, cementing its reputation as a family-friendly choice. First responders will be pleased to know that the retractable door handles comply with ANCAP’s post-crash accessibility standards, extending automatically after airbag deployment. Even in extreme scenarios, such as water submersion or power loss, the doors and windows remained functional—a thoughtful nod to real-world emergencies.
On the tech front, the S07 boasts advanced autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and lane support systems. While its pedestrian detection and AEB crossing path performance were mixed, its overall collision avoidance features earned a combination of “Good” and “Adequate” ratings.
Carla Hoorweg, ANCAP’s CEO, praised the Deepal S07, saying, “New entrants like the S07 continue to impress, meeting the high safety expectations of Australian consumers and fleet buyers.”
While the Deepal S07 isn’t flawless, it’s clear this EV is more than just a pretty face. With top-notch safety credentials and family-focused features, it’s a shining beacon for new brands entering the Australian market. Another win for EVs—and a subtle nod to the Camry for sharing the podium.
