Yet another Chinese automotive giant GAC has confirmed its official entry into the Australian market, launching in November 2025 with a trio of models designed to shake up the status quo, they say — the AION V all-electric SUV, M8 PHEV luxury people mover, and EMZOOM compact SUV.
The AION V takes centre stage as GAC’s electric flagship — a mid-size SUV with futuristic design, cutting-edge safety tech, and a premium cabin that’s anything but shy. Apparently there is a market for people movers now where one had not previously existed. Kia’s Carnival was the big seller in the segment but the Chinese electric models come with more gear for the same price.
The M8 PHEV, meanwhile, brings limousine-like luxury to the MPV segment, combining plug-in hybrid power with serene comfort for seven occupants. Rounding out the launch lineup is the EMZOOM, a sharp, youthful compact SUV that promises lively performance and the latest in digital innovation.

Far from being a new kid on the block, GAC is one of the fastest-growing carmakers on the planet. With long-standing partnerships with Toyota and Honda, and a network of design centres spanning Milan, Los Angeles, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, the brand blends global style with formidable engineering. Its cars are already sold across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe — and now, Australia is next in line.
According to Cheney Liang, Deputy General Manager of GAC Australia, “Launching GAC in Australia is an exceptional milestone for our brand. We’re confident local drivers will embrace our range of high-quality, innovative models and the elevated ownership experience we’ll deliver.” Liang also emphasised GAC’s commitment to building strong connections with customers, dealers, and the broader community.
With electric and hybrid options leading the charge, GAC’s Australian debut adds another spark to the nation’s increasingly electrified motoring landscape. Expect showroom arrivals just in time for summer — because if there’s one thing Aussies love, it’s a newcomer with flair, ambition, and a hint of Guangzhou glamour, at the right price. Legacy brands will be watching.
