Hyundai has released specifications and pricing for Santa Fe Hybrid which is in Australia in the next few weeks
Santa Fe Hybrid’s 1.6-litre T-GDi HEV comes with a six-speed automatic and all-wheel drive (AWD). This addition to the range signals Hyundai’s continued accelerated push towards electrification. It comes as Elite and Highlander trims, with the latter having a 6 seat option with the 2nd row seats being captain’s chairs.
19-inch alloy wheels are intended to give the HEV models their own personality from the outside, while the HEV gives improved economy.
“The addition of Santa Fe Hybrid, and a new six-seater option, brings renewed appeal in this latest evolution of our ever-popular large SUV,” Hyundai Motor Company Australia Chief Executive Officer, Ted Lee said.
“A favourite of Australian families, Santa Fe continues to deliver an alluring combination of style, space, luxury and technology, now with the performance and efficiency benefits of a hybrid powertrain,” he said.

The Hybrid System:
Santa Fe Hybrid uses a 1.6-litre T-GDi Smartstream engine combined with a 44.2kW electric motor powered by asmall 1.49kWh lithium-ion polymer battery.
This 169kW/350Nm petrol/electric hybrid system reduces CO2 emissions while having power than the 2.2 CRDi, and more torque than the 3.5 MPi.
Although there are excellent 8 speed automatic and DCT transmissions in the range, the HEV has gone with a brand new 6-speed automatic transmission. Thankfully, Hyundai have seen fit not to manacle the H|EV to an awful CVT.

What’s new?
All-new optional 6-seat configuration
A first for Hyundai-first: six-seater option for Santa Fe Hybrid Highlander. The second-row captain’s chairs give the 2nd row travellers more comfort and space yet make it easier to get the littluns into the 3rd row.
19-inch aero type alloy wheels
The machined-face alloy wheels are Hybrid-exclusive aero type 19-inch for added class. Apart from the bling, they make the wheels a little less resistant to the passing air.
