LDV Terron 9 Ute: Electric or Diesel

LDV has confirmed the Terron 9 ute series will arrive in showrooms by mid-2025, offering buyers a choice between electric or diesel power. The announcement signals LDV’s commitment to catering to a broad audience, from traditional ute drivers to those embracing electrification.

Two LDV Terron 9 prototypes have already hit Australian roads as part of rigorous validation testing. Engineers have taken the vehicles on a comprehensive journey through New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland, tackling metropolitan streets, major highways, and rural backroads. The testing focuses on refining advanced safety systems like speed-sign recognition, lane-keeping assist, and other electronic driver aids to ensure the Terron 9 performs seamlessly under local driving conditions.

“This validation test demonstrates the importance of this market to our global plans,” said LDV Australia GM, Dinesh Chinnappa, noting the brand’s push to deliver vehicles designed to meet the specific needs of drivers here.

LDV’s new lineup will include the all-electric eTerron 9 and a next-generation diesel-powered Terron 9, sold alongside the existing T60 series. The goal, Chinnappa explained, is to ensure ute buyers have options at various price points without leaving traditional diesel buyers behind. “Certain segments of the market, such as fleets and mining companies, have been pleading for a factory-built electric ute straight off the showroom floor. With the eTerron 9, we’re delivering that solution.”

The eT60, LDV’s first electric ute, has seen only 100 buyers take up the model since 2022, the company is confident the eTerron 9 will mark a major leap forward.
