Jeep revealed its first global battery-electric vehicle (BEV) – the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition. It will launch in the U.S. and Canada in autumn 2024 followed later by the international Jeep markets.
Jeep Wagoneer S is All-Electric, has a range of 300 miles, has 60hp/617 lb.-ft, and a 0-60 mph a rather stunning of 3.4 seconds. That startling performance figure is teamed with the quite useful Jeep Selec-Terrain traction management system.
We’ve driven faster SUVs, but they cost a lot more, and have thumping twin-turbo V8 petrol engines. Ev-makers seem to find that making a quick BEV is easier than the same thing driven by fossil fuels.
“The launch of the all-electric Jeep Wagoneer S marks a new chapter in the storied history of the Jeep brand,” said Antonio Filosa, Jeep brand CEO. “Building upon nearly a century of innovation and design, this first global EV will introduce a whole new generation of owners to an experience that is distinctly Jeep and 100% electric in every way. With new energy in the Jeep vehicle lineup, ranging from EV to V-8, customers have never had more freedom to choose their own adventure.”
Wagoneer S Launch Edition has a starting U.S. MSRP of $71,995 (including destination) and qualifies for the Inflation Reduction Act Retail and Lease EV credits.

Charging
Jeep Wagoneer S carries has a 400-volt, 100-kilowatt-hour battery allowing a DC fast charge from 20-80% in 23 minutes.
Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition includes a 48-amp Level 2 home charger or public charging credits through Free2move Charge, Stellantis’ 360-degree charging network. The Free2move Charge app to search for charging stations, activate the charging session and keep track of charging history.
Can the Electrified architecture Still bring performance, 4×4 capability, and comfort?
The battery is under floor, so steer clear of rocks. As for the rest of the 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S, STLA Large platform is designed for BEV vehicles. The flexible platform was adjusted for length, width, suspension and powertrain configurations to fit Wagoneer. New flexible platforms make designing EVs easier than ever. Previous platofmrs had to make do with humps in the floor for drive shafts ahd tail pipes.
EVs are particularly easy to make all wheel drive by either putting a motor in each wheel, or a motor on each axle. Wagoneer has standard, dual-motor all-electric, four-wheel drive. Stellantis-designed electric drive modules (EDMs) independently power the front and rear wheels, with Jeep’s Selec-Terrain system having five modes: Auto, Sport, Eco, Snow, Sand.
The Jeep Wagoneer S’s 3-in-1 EDMs combine the electric motor, gearing and power electronics into a single, compact unit, with the front EDM allowing wheel disconnects to reduce energy draw when cruising and to help optimize range.
Outside
The design carries a heritage that harkens back to the earliest days of Jeep’s off-roading dawn. It was made to carry people and gear over rough terrain in all conditions. Like most new SUVs, few will realise the full reach of their ability, so have to be comfortable around town and on the open road.
To the end, Waggoneer’s seven-slot grille no longer needs to cool, so now lights up at night, creating a new Jeep signature. Jeep Wagoneer S Launch Edition has dark accents, 20-inch Gloss Black wheels, and Gloss Black and dark neutral grey highlights. Sadly, there is no chrome, such is the modern trend.
Surprisingly for a vehicle of this size and shape, drag (CD) of 0.29, which is the lowest CD ever for a Jeep vehicle and approximately 15% better than the average SUV.
The roof and rear liftgate spoiler minimize wake, aided by flush pocket door handles, rear wing and integrated fins. There are underbody shields, three-dimensional shaped front tyre spats and slippery side-sill design that direct airflow smoothly around the tyres and to the rear of the vehicle.
The Cabin
Wagoneers have always had an American take on luxury. 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S promises to continue that by giving the occupants a properly plush experience.
There are 45” of interactive front passenger screen as the dominating feature of the cockpit. There is a certain sportiness about the wine red-stitched twin-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel. As a sign of the times, the Cabo vinyl’s anti-microbial surface coating keeps things bug-free.
There are electronic door releases, operated by thumb, and start button is surrounded by a die-cast zinc. LED lighting has daytime/nighttime settings, with colour themes. Outboard seats front and back are heated and cooled.
The 1,200-watt McIntosh19-speaker audio system should give passengers a banging performance.
