Jeep Australia, part of the massive Stellantis group, has released pricing and specifications for the 2024 Wrangler, now exclusively powered by new 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder engine. Gone is the silky 6-cylinder power plant, replaced by a more efficient turbo 4-cylinder petrol unit.

Wrangler retains the look that made it famous.

When you think of a Jeep, this is the shape that comes to mind. The body is tall and wide, with short overhangs, and it sits on huge wheels with beefy tyres. Although the basic shape has been with us for decades, each new model has been subtly changed, modernised without ruining the look. The interior has similarly received attention while keeping the spirit of the original, and has been lavished with the latest technology and nappa leather upholstery.

What’s in the 2024 Wrangler?

The range comes in 3 models: Sport S (new), Overland, and Rubicon.

The 4×4 Wrangler range has an 8-speed automatic, new side airbags, a new Uconnect-5 12.3” infotainment screen, a 7″ driver screen between the conventional dials, and either a 2 or 4-door body style in the top model.

Wrangler is an old favourite with fabulous looks and brilliant off-road cred. The 2024 keeps all that and adds more. The updated SUV has more equipment, better driving assistants, and improved safety features including:

  • smart radar cruise control
  • smart emergency braking
  • 3” U-connect 5 infotainment screen
  • 7” driver display
  • 2-speed transfer case
  • traction control
  • four skid plates
  • Dana solid front and rear axles
  • HD Dana 44 full-float rear axle
  • forward-facing TrailCam on Rubicon models
  • power front seats
  • Nappa leather
  • Gorilla glass windscreen
  • Aerial now in windscreen
  • new wheel designs
  • Curtain airbags

Selec-trac and Rock-trac 4×4 systems have been kept or improved, as has the electronic disconnecting sway bar. The optional power soft top remains for the top 2 models.

Is Wrangler still a gay Icon?

According to our readers, the gays in the village still love a Wrangler. The Jeep Wrangler exudes masculine energy that few vehicles can match. Don’t blame us, that’s what you keep telling us, right?

The Engine:

The new 4 cylinder engine is a 200kw/400Nm 2.0L turbo petrol unit. It has more grunt than the outgoing 6 cylinder, and is promised to be more economical too. The extra power comes at lower revs, and with the 8-speed automatic, is more flexible.
