Subaru’s latest Outback got a 5-star safety rating from Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP). Outback won a total 89 points, meaning received the highest the highest score in the larger Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) classification.
Subaru Outback has a 5-star ANCAP safety rating, meaning the brand has 5-Stars across the entire current range.

- Increased front frame resistance, for better energy absorption efficiency.
- The chassis framework is strengthened, and body deformation reduced, improving safety during side collisions.
- Other safety-related technologies that contribute to Outback’s safety, but not directly factored in to ANCAP scoring, include:

- Subaru Vision Assist technologies including:
- Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)

- Autonomous Emergency Steering
- Emergency Lane Keep Assist
- Speed Sign Recognition with Intelligent Speed Limiter
- Lane Departure Warning with steering wheel vibration
- Lane Departure Prevention
- Pre-Collision Braking System with expanded support for collision avoidance at intersections
- The Subaru Driver Monitoring System (DMS)
