Since we started reviewing cars almost 20 years ago, it was our aim to provide a review and news experience tailored for our own community, but what does that mean?
We have asked readers to share their views for a bottom-up opinion, and several views were common:
- Women of all persuasions found the reviews easier to read
- LGTBI readers liked the fact that there was one site set aside just for them
- The style of the various writers appealed to a gay audience
- Some cars were voted “gayer” than others
As an aside, all comments are moderated with the usual anti-gay sentiment making its ugly presence felt just as it does elsewhere in the community.
Readers are mainly gay men, and as always, the inclusivity welcomes all readers, so many comments of the wider community are supportive.

Readers told us that as singles, gay readers with larger budgets liked posh brands. Those with less wanted attractive cars of good value. Couples like plenty of space and power, and older readers went for sports cars and posh SUVs.
Overwhelmingly, family consideration was not top on the list of priority. Around 2% of respondents had children. 30% were couples, and 66% said they never had more than 2 people in the car. 90% said they were the sole occupant, and 82% said safety was a high on their lists.
78% told us they were the sole decision maker for the vehicle purchase, even if it was a company car.
Regardless of budget and needs, style and features came out on top. LGBTI buyers like something stylish, good value, loaded with features. 72% did not like to barter for a deal.
The main comment was not about the vehicles reviewed, but about the reviews and news content instead. Readers told us they liked a less technical view. They like to know what is onboard, and how it drives and feels. Most went on to say the technical “stuff” can be seen on the brochure.
Some of the favoured brands on our recent survey were Subaru, Kia, Toyota, BMW, Mercedes, and Skoda. Favoured models varied hugely so look through the lists we’ve published over the last few years.
So, there you have it.
Our “Top” lists will continue, as we ask you what you like, buy, or desire.
