Subaru WRX is an icon, and the all-new version coming pout on 2022 looks set to continue that status. WRX has been a staple diet in car magazines, and video games as well a motoring fans country-wide. Register your interest in the new model HERE
Australian rally driving legend, Cody Crocker, took the all-new “Rex” out for a first time drive, and he says Australians have a lot to be excited about.
Crocker said: “In the new WRX, you really feel like you are connected to the car and connected to the road. It offers a great and comfortable seating position, good steering feel, good response, good power and great transmission!”
Cody liked the driving dynamic of the WRX Sportwagon’s Subaru Performance CVT Transmission which features a tuned 8-speed paddle shift Sport Lineartronic®, Variable Torque Distribution and Sports Shifting Control for faster shifting and downshift blipping control. If a rally champ is OK with a CVT, then that says a lot for the ability of the otherwise-ordinary transmission type.
“The shifts are really fantastic, they’re definitely improved in speed. What’s not to like about this! It’s truly fantastic, it’s the WRX through and through.”

Blair Read, General Manager Subaru Australia, said: “Subaru performance wagons have always been fantastic drivers cars and keenly anticipated by Australian Subaru drivers. The likes of the Liberty GT wagon and earlier generation WRX wagons earned cult status with their reputation for performance and practicality.
“It was great to throw Cody the keys and get his first impressions of the all-new 2.4 turbocharged WRX Sportswagon and hear that the true rally-bred handling and performance has been refined to an all-new level with the next generation.
“We cannot wait for Australians to experience the new era of WRX, which we are confident will thrill long-time enthusiasts and attract new members to the Subaru family.”
As we’ve said previously, the all-new WRX range includes both a Sedan, and Sportswagon, previously known as “Levorg.”.
