BMW M5 Touring is a Wagon with Huge Grunt - Arriving Soon

BMW Australia is set to enhance its high-performance portfolio and diversify its product range with the introduction of the all-new BMW M5 Touring in Q1 2025. This marks the third time BMW M has offered a Touring variant of the legendary M5, and the first time it features an electrified powertrain.

The M5 Touring’s arrival in Australia follows the launch of other high-performance Touring models, including the fully electric, 442kW i5 M60 xDrive Touring earlier this year, and the always-popular M3 Touring in 2023. BMW claims a commitment to delivering a broad range of options that blend driving dynamics, powerful and efficient drive systems, versatility, and cutting-edge technology.

The new M5 Touring will be the third BMW M model in the current line-up to feature the M HYBRID system, following its introduction in the M5 Sedan and the BMW XM. The M HYBRID system, derived from the BMW M Hybrid World Endurance Championship (WEC) racecar, delivers an impressive 535kW and 1000Nm of torque. The 4.4-litre M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine produces 430kW and 750Nm, capable of revving up to 7,200rpm. The integrated electric motor adds 145kW, with effective torque boosted to 450Nm.

This powertrain, combined with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission, configurable M xDrive all-wheel-drive, and an electronically controlled Active M Differential, enables the M5 Touring to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.6 seconds. Australian models will achieve a top speed of 305km/h, thanks to the standard M Driver’s Package.

The M5 Touring also features an all-electric driving mode, capable of reaching 140km/h. Its high-voltage battery offers a usable energy capacity of 18.6kWh, enabling an electric-only range of up to 61 kilometres. BMW IconicSounds Electric enhances the driving experience with an M-specific electric drive sound.

Chassis dynamics are fine-tuned for engaging performance, featuring a double-wishbone front axle, a five-link rear axle, and adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers. Other notable features include Integral Active Steering, M Compound brakes, and a distinctive styling package with muscular wheel arches, a sculptural front apron, and a high-gloss black rear spoiler.

The new BMW M5 Touring has handy proportions, with a length of 5,096mm and a width of 1,970mm. Cargo space ranges from 500 to 1,630 litres, and comes with 20- and 21-inch M light alloy wheels.

The cabin combines luxury and high-performance elements, including Merino leather trim, the BMW Interaction Bar, and the latest BMW iDrive system.

Production of the BMW M5 Touring will begin in January 2025 at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing, with Australian deliveries expected in the first quarter.
