The battery electric vehicle (BEV) is claimed to have the longest range for the most price (511km* for $59,990 plus on-road costs).
Various state incentives are available, but not included in the drive-away prices below.
CUPRA Born is built the VW Group electric vehicle platform, the MEB. CUPRA Born does the 0-100 dash in 7.0-seconds 0-100km/h, yes promises engaging steering and handling from the rear-drive chassis.
The 19” or 20” alloys are shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres, and a long list of standard gear.
CUPRA Australia Director Ben Wilks said: “We wanted the CUPRA Born to arrive with pricing that bests comparable BEVs, but most importantly is comparable to the hot hatchbacks that Australians love and really engage with.”
“To combine a long 500km-plus EV range with instant electric performance, and controllable dynamics through the sharp steering and rear-wheel drive chassis, places the CUPRA Born in an exclusive part of the market.
“From range and pricing, to space and driver satisfaction, the Born will be the most important vehicle that CUPRA launches as it defines class leadership.”
Gay buyers like a badge, and Cupra was split off from the SEAT brand as a performance arm, adding yet another stand-alone brand to the VW Group umbrella.
