KGM Torres EVX Debuts as Bold New All-Electric Mid-Size SUV

KGM has finally strutted into the EV spotlight with its first proper all-electric mid-size SUV, the Torres EVX — and it arrives looking like the love child of an off-road adventurer and a Bondi brunch influencer. This isn’t just a toe in the electrified water; it’s KGM taking a confident, very public dip in a Speedo.

After testing the waters with the quirky Musso EV, the Torres EVX marks the moment KGM starts shaping a real EV identity. The brand’s “Powered by Toughness” philosophy gives the EVX that blocky, adventurous stance—chunky guards, upright nose, and just enough polish so you won’t look out of place rolling into a Surry Hills café full of shirtless baristas. It’s a proper SUV, not some apologetic hatch on stilts.

Under the skin, the Torres EVX uses a front-drive permanent magnet motor with 152kW and 339Nm. That’s enough urge for the school run, the weekend getaway, or hauling a few handsome tradies who need a lift back to their ute because someone may have misplaced their keys after a “knock-off drink.” With a WLTP range of 462km, it’s engineered to survive the real world: commutes, Costco trips, and the occasional spirited dash to a date that’s running late.

Ride and handling get a glow-up thanks to Smart Frequency Damping — clever suspension tech that reads the road and smooths out the bumps like a soothing gay uncle fixing your messy life. Reinforced insulation keeps the cabin quiet, letting you hear the car gossip from The Boys without shouting over tyre roar. And with only one highly-spec’d grade at launch, KGM has thrown in everything: dual 12.3-inch displays, V2L capability, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, powered sunroof, heated and vented seats, and more safety systems than Grindr has torsos.

Its $58,000 drive-away sticker makes it one of the better-value mid-size electric SUVs on the market, especially considering the tech and comfort levels. In short: it’s capable, practical, stylish, and a little bit sexy in that “rugged but moisturises” way. The Torres EVX is the strongest sign yet that KGM’s electric future might actually be delicious.
