What we know so far:
While Australian sales for Peugeot Citroën are small, the Peugeot range is reasonably large. This perhaps is a reflection of the esteem the brand enjoys in the UK and Europe, where the 208 is the top selling car.
e-208 is a small electric city car, with fairly generous city car range, and buyers can register interest at the Peugeot website HERE.
Going by the 2023 UK specifications we can expect a range of around 400km from the 50kwh battery and 115kw260Nm motor combination. There is no bi-directional charging, but fast charging is available up to 100kw.
Performance figures are adequate for a city car, with a 0-100 of 8.1 seconds depending on which source you believe.
Australia is getting the refreshed model, with the 208 having had a short break from our showrooms. Other Peugeot models include petrol and hybrid versions, with the 408 hybrid also soon to make an appearance. They all share the striking Peugeot design look that had reinvigorated the brand and given it a thoroughly modern appearance. Ignoring the PR Speak for a moment, e-208 is an incredibly handsome car, simple and elegant, yet hot-hatch-ish and fast.

ABOVE: 2023 Peugeot e-208
Peugeot boss, Kate Gillis, has revealed that 2024 will see the e-208 arrive with a new look, and upgraded equipment levels. By “new look”, she means the model has had a mid-life refresh, and Australia opted not to take the pre-facelift version.
European specifications include a digital driver display and 10” centre screen, a new infotainment system, and i-Connect for over the air updates. Alcantara upholstery should make the cabin comfortable in the style to which existing buyers have become accustomed, and with only the electric version coming here, we can expect top-spec treatment.
We will have to wait for final confirmation of local details, but the pricing will be the crucial factor in determining whether or not the little French car will be a success.
We can expect up to 3 USB-C sockets, aUSB-A socket, a 15w Qi phone charger, wireless CarPlay and the driver and safety aids seen in other local peugeot models.
The MyPEUGEOT phone app keeps a record of log book entries, plans a charging route, remotely locks the car and can activate lights and horn if you’ve misplaced your car. It will also suggest where you may find parking spaces in the first place.
Local details will come as the launch date nears.
