Stunning All New Nissan Patrol Unveiled in Abu Dhabi

Nissan’s All-New Seventh-Generation Patrol: A Bold Leap Forward

Nissan has launched the all-new seventh-generation Nissan Patrol, unveiling it in Abu Dhabi with much to-do. The event, attended by VIPs, royals, and media, marked a significant moment for Nissan and for Patrol’s legacy. Gone is the petrol V8, replaced by a V6 twin-turbo engine, a nine-speed automatic transmission, and an advanced adaptive air suspension system, all aimed at enhancing its all-terrain capabilities.

The Legacy

The all-new Patrol replaces the current model which has been around through several facelifts and had fallen slightly behind its main competitor, Toyota Land Cruiser.  The vehicle’s striking design is a nod to its rugged legacy, featuring bold lines, a wider V-motion grille, and enhanced Double C-shaped headlights with Adaptive Driving Beam technology. The Patrol’s monumental appearance is further accentuated by the inclusion of 22-inch alloy wheels, offering both road presence and off-road capability. For those looking to personalize their vehicle, Nissan offers seven exterior colors, including four vibrant two-tone options, enhancing the Patrol’s dynamic and authoritative look.

Nissan has also infused thoughtful design touches, such as the Puddle Lamp, which activates as the driver approaches, projecting the iconic Patrol silhouette and the text “Since 1951,” a tribute to its storied history. This reflects Nissan’s dedication to omotenashi, the Japanese principle of thoughtful hospitality, ensuring every interaction with the Patrol feels special.

Power and Performance

The seventh-generation Patrol is Nissan’s most powerful yet, boasting a new 3.5-litre V6 twin-turbo engine that delivers 425HP and 700Nm of torque. This engine marks a significant improvement over its predecessor, offering 7% more power and a 25% increase in torque, while also enhancing fuel efficiency by 24%. For those seeking a different powertrain, a 3.8-litre naturally aspirated V6 engine is also available, delivering 316HP and 386Nm of torque.

Nissan’s engineers have ensured that the new V6 twin-turbo engine offers improved throttle response, high combustion efficiency, and enhanced thermal performance. The new nine-speed automatic transmission, coupled with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, promises a smooth and responsive driving experience, whether on city streets or rugged terrains.

The Patrol’s off-road prowess is further enhanced by its new adaptive air suspension system, which allows for adjustable ride height, providing superior comfort and performance across various terrains. With six distinct drive modes—standard, sand, rock, mud, eco, and sport—the Patrol ensures that drivers can tailor their driving experience to suit any condition. Additionally, the Patrol features a 4WD transfer mode interlock system, a first for Nissan, offering intuitive handling and seamless switching between terrains.

Luxury, Comfort, and Technology

Inside, the all-new Patrol offers a meticulously crafted interior that harmonizes comfort with cutting-edge technology. The cabin features exquisitely quilted leather seats with massage functionality and eight-way adjustment capabilities, ensuring maximum comfort for all occupants. The Patrol’s spaciousness is enhanced by a panoramic sunroof, which floods the interior with natural light, while NASA-inspired spinal support technology in the seats promotes optimal posture and reduces fatigue.

The centerpiece of the Patrol’s interior is its 28.6-inch horizontal Monolith display, featuring twin 14.3-inch screens that provide comprehensive navigation, entertainment, and vehicle information. Rear passengers aren’t left out either, with dual 12.8-inch screens offering entertainment options via streaming or gaming through connected devices. The interior ambiance is further elevated by a 64-colour ambient lighting system, customizable to match any mood.

For audiophiles, the Patrol offers an exceptional listening experience with a 12-speaker Klipsch Premium Audio system, featuring DynamicAudioReveal™ technology for consistent audio clarity, and DJX® 3D Surround for an immersive sound experience. Additionally, the Patrol introduces Biometric Cooling technology, which uses infrared sensors to monitor and adjust airflow based on passenger body temperature, ensuring optimal comfort.

The Patrol’s cabin is designed for practicality as well, with increased cargo space and flexible storage solutions, making it ideal for families and larger groups. The second and third rows offer ample space, with EZ flex seats for easy access and a power-folding function for the third row, providing adaptability for various needs.

Next-Generation Connectivity and Safety

Nissan has integrated its next-generation technology suite, NissanConnect 2.0, into the new Patrol, offering navigation, security, and entertainment options. This is the first Nissan vehicle in the region to feature Google built-in, allowing for near-seamless integration between the driver’s digital life and the vehicle. Google Maps, real-time navigation, and traffic updates are all accessible through the system, alongside entertainment options and hands-free help via Google Assistant.

The Patrol also introduces Nissan’s ProPILOT technology, combining adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance for a safer and more controlled driving experience. The 14.3-inch TFT meter display and heads-up display keep essential driving information within easy reach, allowing drivers to stay focused on the road.

Safety is further enhanced by the Patrol’s Panorama View, featuring Ultra-Wide View and Invisible Hood View technologies, which provide real-time images of obstacles and navigation cues on the Monolith screen. The 3D Around View Monitor offers a comprehensive 360-degree view of the vehicle’s surroundings, making navigation through tight spaces safer and easier.

Conclusion

The all-new seventh-generation Nissan Patrol is a masterful blend of heritage, power, and innovation. It carries forward the legacy of a nameplate that has been synonymous with adventure and resilience for over 70 years, while introducing cutting-edge technologies and design elements that set new standards in the SUV segment. Whether conquering rugged terrains or cruising through city streets, the Patrol promises an unparalleled driving experience, making it a worthy successor to its iconic predecessors.
