Volvo Electric EX90 Revealed at Last

EX90 looks are not  world away from the XC90 is will eventually replace.

“The Volvo EX90 is our vision of a large family SUV in the electric age,” said Jim Rowan, our chief executive. “Born electric and software-defined, it demonstrates what future Volvo cars will stand for in terms of safety, tech, sustainability, design and creating a more personal experience for every customer.”

EX90 has bi-directional charging so turns into a mobile home battery. Public charging is made easy with plug/charge/pay all taken care of for you with the in car app finding compatible/available chargers for you. You can also help a stranded electric car, even if it isn’t a Volvo.

The cabin is simplified with 2 large screens, one for control and the other for the driver’s data. It uses the brand’s Google Android interface which we’ve loved from day one. It allows you to control your home from your car and vice versa, or from a mobile app.

It ups the safety standard Volvo is famous for. Cameras, lidar, and sonar monitor outside, with further sensors keeping an eye on the driver. Apart from all the usual safety and driver aids, EX90 senses a driver becoming tired or worse still, unconscious. It will try to nudge softly, then less softly and without input, will bring the 7 seater wagon to a safe stop.
