Nissan has given the ever-popular X-TRAIL a 2025 facelift, rolling out tech and convenience updates across the range to keep things fresh and functional for the Aussie market. This mid-size SUV, already a favourite with over 300,000 sold down under, now gets even easier to live with – and a little smarter too.
Five trim levels, check. Options for 2WD or 4WD, double check. Room for five or seven passengers? Yep, the X-TRAIL ST, ST-L, and N-Trek have got you covered. But here’s where it gets interesting: for those who want a bit of future tech in their family wagon, there’s the e-POWER option in the ST-L, Ti, and Ti-L. Think electric drive with a petrol engine doing the charging – no need to plug in!
Now, what’s actually new? Well, Nissan’s given the entire lineup the nifty Approach unlock and walkaway lock function, making your daily routine just that little bit easier. But the real magic starts with the ST-L, which gets a tech makeover with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The N-Trek follows suit with similar wireless treats, while the Ti throws in a hands-free automatic tailgate for good measure. As for the Ti-L, it’s all about premium touches, continuing the theme with wireless Android Auto and the ever-handy walkaway lock function.
When it comes to engines, the X-TRAIL ST, ST-L, and N-Trek offer flexibility between petrol and the e-POWER hybrid system, which teams up a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine with twin electric motors to power each axle. Meanwhile, the top-end Ti and Ti-L stick to a five-seat 4WD setup, with e-POWER as an option.
All in all, the 2025 Nissan X-TRAIL keeps its family-friendly charm but adds a little more tech wizardry to make sure it stays a top pick for those needing practicality without sacrificing a bit of fun.
