smart has officially dropped the curtain on its boldest, fastest and most luxurious electric SUV yet: the smart #5 BRABUS. Unveiled at its world premiere in Milan, this high-performance EV is the new flagship of the brand’s electric line-up – and it’s not here to blend in.
Built in collaboration with tuning powerhouse BRABUS, the #5 BRABUS takes smart’s urban-focused design language and cranks it up to eleven. With a staggering 475kW of power and all-wheel drive, it launches from 0-100km/h in just 3.8 seconds, thanks to a “Launch Mode” designed to give drivers what BRABUS cheekily calls a “1-Second-Wow.” It’s unapologetically quick – think of it as a power suit with a rocket booster.
The #5 BRABUS rides on bold 21-inch Monoblock Z wheels, with red brake calipers and signature BRABUS badging to hammer home the performance DNA. This is no shrinking violet – it’s a mid-size SUV with a real presence, designed for drivers who want to stand out without shouting.
Under the skin, smart’s 800-volt electrical architecture allows ultra-fast DC charging at up to 400kW. That means the 100kWh battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes, offering a WLTP range of up to 540km. It’s practical power, wrapped in a sharply tailored suit.
Inside, things get plush. Microfibre seats with DINAMICA® accents, heated and ventilated front seats, and a panoramic halo roof set the tone. The Alcantara steering wheel features illuminated BRABUS lettering, while ambient lighting with 256 colours lets you dial up the mood. In the back, even the passengers get heated seats – no one’s left out of the comfort equation here.

Audio lovers will be spoiled with the Sennheiser Signature Sound System, featuring a whopping 20 speakers, a rising centre speaker, and support for formats including full 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos. Whether it’s a road trip playlist or a podcast binge, the sound experience is truly immersive.
As Constantin Buschmann, CEO of BRABUS, put it: “This is what happens when two brands with strong personalities join forces.” The BRABUS partnership with smart has been going strong for over two decades, and the #5 BRABUS is a bold new chapter – all-electric, unapologetically premium, and engineered to thrill.
In Germany, pricing starts from €60,900, with orders opening April 24, 2025. The Australian launch is planned for late 2025, with local pricing and specs to be announced by LSH Auto Australia – smart’s exclusive retail partner – in the third quarter of this year. Whether the BRABUS variant will be part of the local mix is still to be confirmed.
The smart #5 BRABUS proves that electric vehicles can be more than silent, sensible commuters. With this model, smart is showing it can deliver luxury, performance, and tech without compromising on style or practicality. It’s a confident step forward into the next generation of electric driving – and a very fast one at that.
