The LGBTI buyers are style-conscious, even if they say they aren’t willing to admit it. Despite this, sunglasses have to be functional and practical as well as stylish. Don’t be tempted by the price allure of genuine fake, knock-off, imitations. At the end of the day, they’re rubbish and do nothing to protect your best asset. No, not THAT best asset, I meant, your eyes.

There are a few things to look out for, especially for the keener drivers. Many news cars have LCD screens in them. These screens can be difficult to see with polarised lenses. HUD (heads-up displays) will be almost impossible to see. That can be a problem on roadtrips, and when using public transport.

While the thought of public transport fills many of us with stomach-churning dread, that’s no excuse not to look your best.

Interestingly, if you turn your head of horizontal, the LCD screen will come in to view. Don’t try it when people are looking at you, for obvious reasons. You might also notice this at airports and railway terminals where large TV screens display schedules.

Polarised lenses are best for outdoor activities. Those outdoorsy types will like tight fitting clothes of quick-dry fabric. While it makes some of us look like someone has tried to get toothpaste back into a tube, there are some who look divine, and why not indeed?

RayBan is an advertising whore. The brand is owned by Italian giant, Luxotica. Luxotica designs sunglasses, makes sunglasses, ships sunglasses, and sells sunglasses. Sunglass Hut is one of their many outlets. Once you get into that rinse cycle, you may never escape/

Rayban Wayfarer was made popular a million ages ago by a pants-less Tom Cruise, in Risky Business. In fact, Risky Business may well have rescued Rayban from obscurity. Sales shot up by an astounding 50%, just as Luxotica was about to discontinue the line.

Aviators, were worn by General Douglas MacArthur in the Philippines in WWII. That hardly made them sexy, but it did make them popular. Because they “banned uv rays,” the name RayBan was coined. Tom Cruise wore them in Top Gun, and sales went up 40% again.

Then there are wrap-around glasses. Brands like Mako, Oakley and Nike make sporty types look sexy.

Look for glass lenses for longevity, or plastic lenses for a lighter frame.
