At last, a car company with a bit of sense: Porsche has gotten together with Apple so that the My Porsche App will be accessible within Apple CarPlay®. In other words, the German Sports car brand will be the first automotive manufacturer to allow better access to vehicle functions right there within an app in CarPlay®. Normally you must switch between the CarPlay system, and the native interface to make changes to settings.
“We are excited to further improve the My Porsche App and using the capabilities of Apple CarPlay to deliver a truly enhanced customer experience,” says Mattias Ulbrich, CEO of Porsche Digital and CIO Porsche AG. “Technology and digitization are crucial factors for the enduring fascination of our brand.”
The My Porsche App is the central nexus of digital management the Porsche. Drivers can view vehicles data on their iPhones, such as being able to see the state of charge of the battery, change air conditioning settings, and send destinations to the navigation system. Not only that, the My Porsche App links existing accounts with third-party providers, such as Apple Music®, to the associated apps in Porsche Communication Management (PCM).
