The new top-of-the-range Defender will carry a touch of big sister, Range Rover, into the smaller Defender.

Mark Cameron, Managing Director, Defender, said: “Defender has been synonymous with all-terrain capability with a bloodline tracing back to the Series 1 in 1948. New Defender OCTA will take this to another level, with a dramatic stance, innovative technology and unparalleled attention to detail. With astounding performance and a bold new attitude, it will enable our clients to master epic adventures in heightened luxury.”

Defender OCTA has a V8 Twin Turbo mild-hybrid drivetrain, and 6D Dynamics air suspension.
The hydraulic interlinked 6D Dynamics has a pitch and roll control system that promises a near-level balance on-road, yet allows maximum independent wheel travel and articulation off-road.

The Defender’s name is inspired by a diamond’s octahedron shape, thus OCTA is fashioned after the hardest naturally occurring substance on Earth.

The encircled diamond graphic can be seen throughout the OCTA. A gloss black diamond on a machined and sandblasted titanium disc signifies not only the hardness of the diamond, but the extreme resistance of Titanium all that would harm it.

Mark Cameron added: “The Defender OCTA name and signature graphic are representative of the vehicle’s strength, resilience and desirability – inspired by the vehicle’s diamond-like tough luxury credentials. The new signature graphic is particularly significant as it will be the first time it is seen on a Defender – and it will identify all flagship Defender models in the future.”

Final Defender OCTA testing has extended from snow and ice in Sweden, Dubai’s unforgiving  desert, Nürburgring’s famous racetrack, and death-defying Moab rock crawls.

Prior to the full reveal later this year, possible buyers will be discreetly asked to attend events in the Defender Elements series. Interested buyers can register interest at the nearest Defender dealer at www.landrover.com.au/defender
