Ian Callum’s design and engineering firm, CALLUM, has revealed the opulent interior of its ‘dynamic’ SKYE. CALLUM SKYE is the on-road variant of its high-performance, all-wheel-drive, multi-terrain electric vehicle.
“While the CALLUM SKYE is capable and has a rugged exterior, the interior design is carefully and considerately refined to deliver a premium feel at every touchpoint,” explains Aleck Jones, head of design at CALLUM. “Clever design solutions keep the interior simple but not simplistic, giving it a light, airy and refined feel while being within a compact cabin. Its success is down to its careful balance of opposing factors, baked into an exterior that people understand and enjoy.”
The SKYE’s cabin, a stark contrast to its rugged exterior, prioritizes refined elegance while incorporating innovative technologies.
“We’ve had challenging weight targets to achieve, so we’ve utilised lightweight solutions where possible without compromising on the luxury feel,” says CALLUM’s colour, material and finish designer, Charlotte Jones. “Inside, the bright silver, premium metallic coated finish on the doors, dash and centre console matches the CALLUM level of quality in our recent Jaguar C-X75 project while saving essential weight. Additionally, this prototype features body panels made from flax composite with bio-resin, which is being explored as a potential option for production models.”

The interior showcases a captivating blend of materials and cutting-edge technology:
- Luxurious Leather: Sumptuous ‘Arctic Pearl’ white Bridge of Weir leather adorns the seats, complemented by contrasting ‘Vitamin C’ orange accents.
- Digital Deconstruction: CALLUM’s signature ‘deconstructed tartan’ is digitally printed onto leather surfaces, adding a touch of unique personality.
- Weight-Saving Elegance: Lightweight solutions, such as a premium metallic finish on the dash and center console, contribute to the vehicle’s efficiency without compromising on luxury.
- Advanced Electronics: The SKYE integrates a suite of advanced technologies, including a high-resolution touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a premium sound system, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
Key Design Features
- Horizontal Bar Graphic: A prominent design element from the exterior, this graphic is integrated into the interior with a bright silver metallic finish, creating a visually striking horizontal line across the cabin.
- Blade-Like Console: A sleek center console houses intuitive controls, creating a dramatic line between the seats and incorporating touch-sensitive rotary dials for climate control and other key functions.
- Minimalist Aesthetic: The clean dash design prioritizes functionality and driver focus, minimizing distractions and maximizing the sense of space.
The interior is meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans at the Bridge of Weir Advanced Design Studio.
“This has been an incredibly intricate and precise project undertaken by the team at Bridge of Weir’s Advanced Design Studio,” explains CALLUM’s colour, material and finish designer, Charlotte Jones. “The quality of Bridge of Weir’s leather is unsurpassed and it has been fantastic to utilise its exciting digital printing technology, which has allowed us to add further design accents and nods to CALLUM’s history. We are particularly excited about the personalisation options SKYE offers – both inside and out – and are keen to explore these alongside our customers, supporting them to create one-of-a-kind CALLUM SKYE vehicles.”
The CALLUM SKYE, powered by a 42kWh battery, delivers exhilarating performance with a projected 0-60mph time of under four seconds. The all-electric powertrain provides instant torque delivery, ensuring a thrilling driving experience.
